End Of Mugabe? Zimbabwe's Dictator Confined To House Arrest As Army Takes Control

Mugabe's decades-long grip on power appeared to be over this morning after military vehicles blocked roads outside the parliament in Harare and senior soldiers delivered a late-night television address to the nation. 

The country’s army confirmed the 93-year-old president had been “detained” but insisted he was “safe” – as reports emerged that his hated wife Grace had fled to nearby Namibia, suggesting that there's an end in sight to the tyrant's bloody 37-year reign.

Exiled former vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa  nicknamed The Crocodile whose dismissal had left Mugabe's wife Grace, 52, in prime position to succeed her husband as the next president has been installed as leader after being flown back into the country, a Twitter account claiming to be run by plotters said.
